2016 Capability Brown Festival and Events

During 2016 a nationwide Festival and a number of events are planned around Britain to celebrate the art and designs of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown in his 300th birthday year.

Organisations including English Heritage, National Trust, Visit Britain and the Landscape Institute are behind a nationwide celebration of Capability Brown’s life and landscape legacy. Capability Brown 300 Celebration and Festival will bring the beauty and importance of Brown’s landscapes to a wider audience, celebrate the legacy of one of history’s most influential landscape architects and encourage people to visit and enjoy the many landscapes he created, which include Croome Court, Warwick Castle, Blenheim Palace, Alnwick, Chatsworth and Broadway Tower, a unique Capability Brown folly linking Broadway with the gardens Capability Brown landscaped at Croome Court near Pershore.

Broadway Tower is one of England's outstanding viewpoints and at 1024 feet (312m) above sea level, it is the second highest point on the Cotswold escarpment. Unrivalled views survey an expanse of a 62 mile radius and as many as 16 Counties. The tower is a 10 minute drive or a 40 minute walk from our Cotswold holiday cottages and well worth a visit any time of year.
