Poppies in the Courtyard

The colourful large papery petals of the annual Papaver somniferum made a wonderful display in the courtyard outside Willow, Corner and Sheldon Cottages this summer. The saucer-shaped blooms did not last long but they provided a great source of nectar for bees, hoverflies and other insects.
